Know the Risks Before You Join
Please read this carefully. You will be asked to confirm that you have read and understood it. Njangi On-Chain is software that helps your savings group (njangi/tontine) run itself. It is not a bank, and your money is not guaranteed by anyone.
Your money is crypto, and crypto can lose value
- Contributions are made in crypto assets (stablecoins or SUI), not in CFA francs.
- Crypto prices can change fast. Even "stablecoins" can lose their fixed value.
- The value you get out may be worth less than the value you put in.
Payments cannot be undone
- Blockchain transactions are final. There is no "cancel" button and no chargeback.
- If you send funds to the wrong place, or someone tricks you into sending funds, no one can reverse it — not Njangi On-Chain, not anyone.
Njangi On-Chain is not a bank — and there is no insurance
- Your funds are held by a smart contract (a computer program on the Sui blockchain), not by Njangi On-Chain and not by a bank.
- There is no deposit insurance. No government or company will pay you back if something goes wrong.
- Njangi On-Chain cannot move, freeze, or recover your funds. This protects you from us — but it also means we cannot "fix" a loss for you.
- Njangi On-Chain pays no interest and no yield. This is a savings rotation, not an investment.
Software can have bugs
- Smart contracts are code, and code can contain errors or be attacked.
- The price information the app uses comes from outside sources ("oracles") that can be wrong or out of date.
- A serious bug could delay your payout or, in the worst case, lose funds. Use amounts you can afford to lose.
Your circle members are your risk
- You choose your circle members. Njangi On-Chain does not check them and does not guarantee them.
- If a member stops contributing, your payout may be late, smaller, or may not happen.
- A dispute with a member is between you and that member. Njangi On-Chain cannot take funds from anyone to make you whole.
- Only join circles with people you genuinely trust.
Losing your login can mean losing your wallet
- Your wallet is connected to your Google, Facebook, or Apple account.
- If you lose that account, you can lose access to your wallet and your funds.
- Generate your recovery codes and store them somewhere safe (not only on your phone). Protect your social account with a strong password and two-step verification.
The rules around crypto may change
- Laws on crypto assets and savings groups are still evolving in Cameroon, the CEMAC region, and elsewhere.
- New rules could restrict the Service, your ability to buy or sell crypto, or the value of your assets.
- It is your responsibility to make sure using the Service is legal where you live.
